X Factor reject Rachel Hylton breaks down

Rachel Hylton broke down in tears as she hit out at negative media coverage for cutting short her X Factor experience. The 26-year-old soul singer said she felt “numb” about being kicked off Saturday night’s show after she lost out in a sing-off with boyband JLS.

Rachel, a former drug addict, said: “I really think it didn’t matter about my performance. Bottom line is I feel I’ve been judged on my past the whole way through this competition. I wasn’t given a chance.”

The mother-of-five, from London, burst into tears as she blamed the media for victimising her by digging up her criminal past, which had led to three of her children being taken into care.

She said: “I’ve been given a lot of negative press coverage. I just feel it was really unfair. I know I’ve taken drugs, I know I’ve committed crimes and I am sorry.”

“I didn’t mean to do them things. I’ve lost three kids and I’m nearly 27,” she added, sobbing.

“I’m sorry to cry, but I’ve got to live with that every single day of my life. My oldest son is 13 and I don’t even know what his favourite colour is, that’s embarassing. It’s not something I’m proud of.”

Only one month after confirming their breakup, pop star Madonna and her soon-to-be ex-husband Guy Ritchie were granted a preliminary divorce in the High Court of London.

During a brief hearing which took place yesterday (friday) which neither party attended, the judge issued a “decree nisi,” which represents the first step in a two-stage divorce procedure in the United Kingdom. The preliminary divorce also goes by the name of “quickie” divorce because it becomes final in six weeks and one day if the decision is not challenged.

According to court documentation, the 50-year-old singer Madonna divorced the British filmmaker on grounds of “unreasonable behavior.”

Guy Ritchie will not claim a significant part of Madonna’s fortune, which is estimated to be around $450 million. In addition, Ritchie informed the press that he had never been after his wife’s money and that he “just wanted to settle it and move on.”

They will reportedly share custody of their only biological child, 8-year-old Rocco and of their adopted son, 3-year-old David Banda. Consistent with reports, Lourdes, Madonna’s 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship with personal trainer Carlos Leon, will stay with her mother in the United States.

Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh have fallen out this week because they both wanted the same song for their X Factor singers, the hot headed judges were at battle after they both had the same song in mind for the contest this coming weekend.

The song that was at the centre of the dispute was Take That’s 2007 hit Rule The World, with Louis desperate to bag it for his band JLS, while Dannii wanted her Over 25 contestant Rachel to sing it on Saturday night’s show.

The X Factor website has confirmed that Dannii has won the argument, because the judges operate a rota system and this week was her turn to get first dibs on her choice of song.

JLS love the song so much that they wanted to sing it in the Best of British Week, but decided to wait until the Take That show. They will now have to sing their second choice, Back For Good, instead.

Kerry Katona still struggling

Kerry Katona’s has a new MTV show but it has apparently been shelved because producers are worried she is not well enough to be filmed. Kerry was supposed to be ready to star in another ‘fly on the wall’ documentary about her life, strggles and her new comeback to music, but producers have decided to pull the plug on the documentary as Kerry is still unwell.

Kerry recently admitted she is an alcoholic after a shambolic appearance on This Morning, is now holding fire on flying to Nashville in America for the show. A source said: “Kerry is in no fit state to make a show. We have to wait and see how she fares in the immediate future. We want to see if she can start taking care of herself.”

Kerry, 28, is a mum of four and was last filmed by MTV when she had £15,000 of plastic surgery, all of which was caught on camera throughtout the whole process of the lead-up to surgery, surgery itself and then the healing process.

A friend of Kerry’s has recently said: “Kerry is still in a bad way. She’s very weepy. Everyone is worried about her.” – Lets just hope she gets herself back on track soon for herself and her childrens sake.

Skinny models do not help sell products claim researchers

Recent research into advertising has found that skinny models are actually a turn off to the consumer in TV commercials and other forms of advertising. They found that images of super-thin models carry no edge in encouraging young women to buy and for the majority of adult women adverts showing skinny girls actually discouraged sales.

So-called ‘plus-size models’, on the other hand, actually encouraged them to buy. The study performed by psychologist Phillippa Diedrichs from the University of Queensland, Australia, created a series of ads for underwear, shampoo and a party dress. Each advert was made twice, once using a skinny size eight model and another featuring a size twelve woman.

When women aged between 18 and 25 saw the adverts they felt better – and more likely to buy – after viewing the images of the size twelve models.

Miss Diedrichs said: “For anything to change, research has to be convincing, not just to government and health researchers, but also to people in advertising who actually make the decisions. Often people make the argument that thinness sells, and that’s why they use thin models.”

“But we can change the images we see and still sell products but also make people feel better about themselves.” The soap brand Dove has based its image on a campaign using “real women” and highlighting how much imagery in advertising is manipulated.

There have been concerted campaigns against the ultra-thin “size zero” with fashion weeks in Madrid and Milan banning models from the catwalk that were of a weight deemed unhealthy by the Body Mass Index measure.

Leonardo DiCaprio has admit his false sense of importance

Leonardo DiCaprio has admitted he had a false sense of importance after becoming world famous by starring in Titanic, the star has explained how titanic changed him as a person due to the sudden media attention and how much people suddenly admired him.

“Titanic began a period of rebellion for me, as soon as people give you enough compliments and you suddenly have more power than you’ve ever had in your entire life, it’s not that you become an arrogant p***k, or you become rude to people, but you get a false sense of your own importance. You’re treading in dangerous territory when you begin thinking you’ve altered the course of history. It was like a runaway train. I didn’t understand what was happening to me.”

Leonardo has recently also urged Americans to tell five friends to vote in a new PSA on MySpace Celebrity, where stars use humor to encourage people to take part in the presidential election which took part on November 4th 2008. Other famous celebrities to take part in the voting advert were Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Aniston.

Michael Jackson is being sued for $7 million

Michael Jackson is reportedly being sued for $7 million, for allegedly breaking a contract with a Bahrain-based record company. It is claimed that he failed to deliver a new album under a deal with the 2 Seas label, which was a joint venture between him and his brother Jermaine.  Bell Pottinger Group which is a UK based public relations firm said yesterday that the breach-of-contract case had been filed at London’s Royal Courts of Justice.

Rumour has it that the suit may be related to a song Jackson was due to record with 2 Seas to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina which devastated New Orleans in 2005. The case will open on Monday and it has all come only a week after the music icon gave up his title to his Neverland ranch in California.

Jackson’s career fell apart when he was arrested in 2003 on charges that he molested a 13-year-old boy at Neverland, he was cleared of the charges in June 2005.

Lawyers for Shaikh Abdulla say the money was given to Jackson as an advance on the album and joint recording project with the Shaikh, who is an amateur songwriter – Jackson has claimed the money was a gift.

Samantha Ronson speaks out for Linsey Lohan

DJ Samantha Ronson has spoken out after her girlfriend Lindsay Lohan was targeted by PETA. Samantha has blogged and admittedly in a very angry manner after her girlfriend Linsey Lohan was targeted in Paris on Friday night and had flour thrown at her.

PETA have admitted being behind the stunt ad have since realeased a statement saying, “There is nothing remotely ‘fashionable’ about torture and death of animals killed for fur, Linsey Lohan might be able to ignore images of bloody animals skinned alive for their pelts, but we hope a dash of flour will help her rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all”

Needless to say Samantha clearly isn’t best pleased. “PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight,” She wrote. “I’m p****d at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay. Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it’s an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person.” Samantha then went on to say, “When was the last time you saw an animal attack one of its own in defense of a human?”
