R ‘n’ B musician Akon has landed an incredibly lucrative deal, as he has been asked to make music for the forthcoming 2010 football world cup. The ‘Birthmark’ hitmaker has been roped in to record a theme song for the football world cup event, which will take place in South Africa next year, and oversee performances throughout the tournament. Akon is thrilled about the offer and is working hard on his music. He revealed that he was honoured to get hired to direct the music for a big event like forthcoming football world cup and also told “I’ve been hired as musical director for the World Cup. I will be overseeing the World Cup anthem and music at the ceremonies and I’m off to South Africa this week for meetings. I love soccer, so it’s a great honour,” Contactmusic quoted Akon as saying.”

He said if he knows he real age he will start thinking about getting check-ups and life insurance and he doesn’t want that. 

Akon even insists he feels 21 right now. “In Africa… age is not important. They don’t care.” He adds, “I feel like I’m 21 right now, and I’ll be 21 for the next 10 years.” Akon – age is something we all face, get over it! It is only a number and its how old you feel not how old you are, and if you feel 21, then it doesn’t matter if you do find out your true age!
