Cheryl Cole has been told to put on weight for her charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, Cheryl’s weight has been a much spoken about in magazines and in the news for the past year or so, looking very fragile at the end of last year.

The fragile Girls Aloud singer has been told to “bulk up” before she climbs the mountain in Tanzania in aid of Comic Relief, and Cheryl has taken this advice into account and has been upping her intake of carbs to prepare for the climb.

A source close to the star said: “She’s not too skinny to do the trek any more – she’s put on weight and has been putting her heart and soul into the training. She’s been working hard with Ashley’s instructor practically every day.”

Cheryl, who plans to climb the 5,981m mountain at the end of this month, is said to be taking the trip very seriously.

The source continued: “She’s been eating more and making a big effort to eat. They will be burning lots of calories over the course of the trek and it’s estimated they will all lose half a stone to 10lbs, so she will more than likely lose the weight she’s put on anyway!

“They’ve all been told to bring their favourite sugary snack, and apparently Cheryl has chosen chocolate buttons. They’ve all been told to increase their carb intake the week before, so Cheryl will be eating loads of potatoes and bread, which she’s not used to.”

Cheryl is not the only star that is taking part in the climb, and stars that will be joining her are her bandmate Kimberley Walsh, Denise Van Outen, Alesha Dixon, Fearne Cotton, Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating, Chris Moyles and Ben Shephard.

The group originally had hoped to release the set, which stands for “The Energy Never Dies,” in March. The band plans an international tour in support of the Interscope release.

Black Eyed Peas principal ‘Will.I.Am’ previously told reporters he hopes the album will continue to evolve even after it is released, he spoke out saying: “When the album comes out, there’ll be 12 songs on it, but the next day there could be 100 songs, 50 sketches, 1,000 blogs all (online) around ‘The End,’ so the energy really, truly never dies,” he said.

He described the music on the album as a lot of dance stuff, real melodic, electronic, soulful. We call it, like, electric static funk.”

The Black Eyed Peas’ last album, “Monkey Business,” was released in May 2005 and has sold 4.2 million copies in the United States and in 2006, singer Fergie released her solo album, “The Dutchess,” which produced the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits “London Bridge” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”

Fearne Addicted to Ink

TV presenter Fearne Cotton is “addicted to tattoos” and would love to cover her whole body in them, but is worried it would harm her career.

She said: “Seriously, if I wasn’t on TV I’d have tattoos all over my whole body. I would go mental. Because I’m addicted to tattoos. I love the look, the process, the feeling of, ‘Yes! I didn’t pass out, I’ve just achieved something.’ I have more than 11 now. Not that my mother knows.”

Ever the rebel, Fearne also got another tattoo while she was in the US recently.

The 26-year-old star added to in an interview: “I got a new one in Los Angeles, it covers most of my back at the bottom and it’s a 50s pin-up mermaid, lovely boobs, beautiful. I love Amy Winehouse’s tattoos but I can’t do arms. I can’t do ‘Children In Need’ with a naked chick on my arm, can I?”

Although she is wary of her image when she is on TV, Fearne refuses to change her sense of style.

She said: “People have tried to pressure me over the years to look more conservative. But this is how I dress. I’ve always been quite strong in the sense that I believe in who I am. Obviously you want to appeal to a mass audience and not scare people off, but I don’t think it’s a scary prospect, I just like quirky clothing!”
