Leona Lewis refuses to speak more than a few words to people in fear of losing her voice.

The X Factor winner is so scared that she will lose her world-class voice; she refrains from shouting and keeps small talk with people to a minimum.

Leona said, “I get scared of things not panning out the way I want them too. I wonder what I’d do if anything happened to my voice. That is why I look after myself so much.

“I will say, ‘I can’t talk to you for too long,’ and ‘I can’t do this or that because I am doing a show.’ I will miss nights out because I can’t be talking over loud music. I get panicked in case something happens.”

However, the ‘Better in Time’ singer is not too worried about losing her fame and fortune, saying she lives for her singing, and would be devastated if she couldn’t sing anymore.

“Singing is an escape,” Leona said. “When I sing I go somewhere else, out of this world. It is another place where I am free to do whatever I want. It is like a dream. It’s my favourite colour, pastel pink, and there is just me there.”

There are many stars who go to extreme lengths to protect their voice before a show. Mariah Carey refuses to speak to anyone for two days before a concert.

The ‘Butterfly’ singer once said, “Before a big show I have to do vocal rest where I am not allowed to speak for two days. It is so boring having to write notes to everyone! I need Stephen Hawkings voice machine for when I am on vocal rest.

“I would like a machine where I can just think and it comes out in a robot voice-that would be amazing.”

Opening a tabloid newspaper or gossip magazine and no doubt there will be a story splashed on the cover about a celebrity showing her diva habits.

The tabloids love it and the celebrities hate it as their credibility falls down the pipeline when the public discovers they aren’t the sweet girls they make out to be.

Over the years we have heard rumours of many celebs demanding food to be sent up to their hotel room at 5am and throwing a tantrum if their sheets aren’t made of Egyptian silk cotton.

We have picked our fave top five-diva celebrities who are renowned for their diva tantrums…enjoy!

 1 Mariah Carey

 Mariah’s appearance on last years X Factor saw the US singer bring a few diva antics to the UK.

Arriving with 27 bags in tow, Mariah and her entourage all flew first-class and stayed at the lush Dorchester, where a suite costs just £2,000 a night.

The singer also insisted that the entire floor of the X Factor studios was for use only.

Her assistant demanded that a corridor was to be built from her mobile home to the door into the studio so that she could prepare for the concert.

After the show, Mariah flew to Monaco on a private jet, which cost the World Music Awards £10,000.

On arrival she asked for renowned Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse to be brought to her hotel to cook her private dinner before asking him to stay to teach her how to cook the clam linguine for her new husband Nick Cannon. How thoughtful!

2. Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone has let the fame go to her head since producers asked her to star in the Basic Instinct sequel.

Shazza’s requests took up five pages and included three nannies, two assistants, first class travel (if a private jet was unavailable), presidential suite, chef, and deluxe motor home with all amenities including VCR and cellular fax machine.

The star demanded she be equipped with Pilates equipment, a chauffeured car plus a convertible sedan for herself.

Any wardrobe and jewelry worn in the picture that wasn’t rented she would also keep. Plus her bodyguards would receive $3,500 per week. 

3. Jennifer Lopez

Arriving at the five-star hotel London hotel, The Dorchester, the Latina star proved just how high maintenance she was.

The pop princess requested no less than three types of Coke (diet, regular and caffeine-free regular), two humidifiers, a preference for white or red roses or white lilies, two humidifiers and two oscillating fans with the preferred room temperature at 26°C.

The diva further went on to provide a similar request list ahead of the video shoot for the 9/11 tribute song, “What’s Going On” despite all profits going to charity.

4. Aretha Franklin?

The ‘Respect’ diva demanded $25,000 up front in cash upon arrival at the venue of a show.

Aretha also insisted that when staying in a hotel room, she must never be placed above the 5^th floor.

5. Cher

Sixties survivor, Cher insists she has an additional area for preparation before a show. Not satisfied, like most bands to share a single dressing room, the diva requires a ‘Wig Room, special tissues, black Solo cups and lilies.

The diva thinks she is so big; she shouldn’t have to wear one of those laminated tour passes backstage. Touchy!

Is she or isn’t she?  The famous question we are all used to hearing about celebrities that may or may not be expecting a baby,  and now there’s been much speculation about Mariah Carey being pregnant – first she was never going to have babies, then she changed her mind about becoming a mother, because she’s now with “the one” husband Nick Cannon. And according to close friends of Mariah, the 39-year-old singer is indeed pregnant!

Mariah is said to deliver a baby this year, and she apparently told family and friends at a holiday gathering that she’s pregnant, but wanted to keep things “secret” until the end of her first trimester. Many women whether they are a celebrity or not, do that – they want to be relatively sure that the pregnancy is going well before telling everyone.

There has been photos of Mariah holding a glass of red wine which may have put an end to the rumors but she supposedly didn’t actually drink the wine. However, she was eating oysters – which is a food type which pregnant women should avoid at all costs. But it has been confirmed that no one actually saw her eat the oysters, so they could be a bluff to try and put the paparazzi off the scent of a pregnancy. 

Mariah also cancelled her tours dates in December, and it has not been said why, and although there’s been no ‘official’ confirmation from either Mariah herself or her husband, Nick Cannon, it is thought to be because of her pregnancy. Costume designers and dancers were all called and told the tour was off, and most were crying hysterically because they were relying of her tour dates for paychecks for the holiday season. 

I suppose we’ll have to watch for the tell-tale baby bump and/or wait for an official announcement from Mariah herself.

Generally boring songstress Leona Lewis has started what could turn in to a war of words with stick-thin mess Amy Winehouse. The Bleeding Love singer said that although she admired Amy’s singing talents she did not want to end up like her.

She claims she will avoid the pitfalls of fame and fortune (must suck when you’re a squillionaire…) by having the support of a strong family to keep her feet on the ground.

Leona, 23, said: “Amy is so talented. But a performer’s privacy is taken away. The media are always there.

“You can’t make your mistakes in private. I have the advantage of a great support structure.

“I get honest opinions from family and friends. They aren’t always telling me what I want to hear, but the truth helps keep my head straight.”

The singer was also proud to be likened to legendary diva’s Whitney Houston, 44 and Mariah Carey, 38.

Leona in her interview with a US magazine added: “It’s exceedingly gratifying because they’re so great.”

R&B singer Mariah Carey has got upset about reports circulating that suggest her newly slender figure is the result of plastic surgery. The diva insists that her weight loss is down to a good diet and plenty of exercise.

She revealed the new look earlier this year as she released her eleventh studio album, E=MC2, which sparked the speculation that she’d gone under a surgeon’s knife to shed a massive 32 pounds.

Mariah, 38, is adamant that it was an all natural method of weight loss that helped her lose the unwanted poundage.

When questioned regarding her spectacular weight loss she said,

“I know the UK is freaking out that I had some crazy plastic surgery done, but… honestly, it’s working out and diet. Look at what I’m eating right now: olives!

“It makes me upset that people think I’ve had surgery, ’cause let’s discuss how annoying the dieting process was. My girls will eat really good fried food, and I also love sweet plantain and rice and peas, but I can’t eat it! If I eat it, it’s small!”

Were not so sure we believe you Mariah…
