Sophie Ellis-Bextor Gives Birth To A Baby Boy

Pop and soul singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has given birth to a baby boy nine weeks early, Sophie shot to fame with her single ‘Groovejet’ and has since released two albums and has also taken part in a modeling campaign for ‘Accessorize’ and ‘Monsoon’. 

Sophie was not due to have her baby until April – yet gave birth to her 2lb 2oz son after being struck down with the potentially life-threatening pregnancy illness pre-eclampsia. Sophie’s mother – former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Janet Ellis – revealed:

“Sophie has just had her second little boy. He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well.”

This is the second pregnancy drama for Sophie and her husband, who is the band ‘The Feeling’ bassist Richard Jones, when Sophie was carrying their first child Sonny, who is now four, had to have an emergency caesarean operation at 28 weeks after developing the illness pre-eclampsia. 

Sophie who is 29 recently revealed she had taken up karate during her pregnancy, as although it can be a very active and strenuous exercise, there is also a other element to the art which can be quite soothing and a excellent form of exercise for pregnant women, Sophie has also said she has already predicted she was going to have another son. She said: “I don’t know why, but I think I’m going to have another boy.
