Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have recently been named as the highest paid actor and actress of the last year. So far both Daniel and Emma have starred in 6 installments of the Harry Potter series and there’s more to come. In terms of their net worth, Radcliffe tops the list and even features in the top ten being the youngest to do so. His net worth is estimated to be at approximately $60 million allegedly being paid $16 million for the fifth Potter film. 

The 20 year old actor is however mulling over what his life will be like post the Potter series. According to fellow co-star and friend, Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley, the real world seems scary. However, Radcliffe has proved his acting skills beyond Harry Potter and the list of successes can only be expected to increase. And if his splurges are taken into consideration, it doesn’t seem that Radcliffe is too concerned having recently purchased a $8 million home in New York. His property worth alone stands at $20 million now.

Emma Watson ranks below Radcliffe though her net worth stands at an astounding $24 million. Catapulting to fame when she played the role of Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter, Watson says that she may live to be a 100 years old but she will always be proud to be a part of the Potter franchise.  Apart from the Potter series, this actress in now the face of Burberry and can be seen their 2009 Fall/Winter campaign while earning a six figure sum under this contract. This 19 year old actress states that she will be an “uncontrollable wreck” when the filming of the last Potter film is finished.

Apart from the Potter series, Watson has also starred in big screen projects like The Tale of Despereaux and Voice (2008). However, possibly the biggest news has been that Watson plans to give up acting in order to pursue higher studies. She is recorded to have said that she wants to be a “proper, proper nerd” and will be studying at the prestigious Yale University in the U.S. As explained to Interview magazine, Watson misses school life and plans to study English, History, Politics, Art and French.

I am a huge fan of Dancing on Ice and after going to the live tour last year I was back there again at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Saturday 18^th April 2009 for the Bolero Tour.

The lights went down and the professional skaters took to the ice dressed in Victorian costumes of black, white and purple with white masks on. The routine was seamless and captivating to watch. The circular lighting unit in the middle was slowly lowered down and a white drape dropped down to hide what was going on behind. Images flashed across the drape of countries who had taken part in the 1984 Olympics; when the drapes dropped to the ice Torvill and Dean were there in position to start the world famous Bolero routine.

The first half of the show was set out like the TV programme; each celebrity skater danced one of their favourites from the series and the judges marked them out of a possible 6. The panel was made up of Karen, Robin, Ruthie, Nicky and a surprise judge; in my case Salty from Real Radio. Andie Peters hosted the event with Jane and Chris offering their comments. The celebrity skaters were; Kyran Bracken, Todd Carty, Melinda Messenger, Roxanne Pallett, Ray Quinn, Zoe Salmon, Suzanne Shaw, Jessica Taylor and my personal favourite Chris Fountain.

All the celebrity skaters were excellent, with those who were from past series skating to new routines. Todd Carty provided the biggest laugh with his routine of ‘Help’ by the Beatles and even managed to stay on his feet throughout the performance. The technical footwork and lifts by the likes of Ray and Chris were amazing to watch.

During the interval the audience could text with the person they wanted to skate Bolero in the final. Like the TV programme those were added to the judges scores and the top 2 fought it out to be champion of that particular show.

The second half started with a dance by Matt Evers, Dan Whiston and Frankie Poultney. They were amazing and the routine, lifts, footwork -breathtaking. You actually held your breath on some of the lifts wondering how on earth they did it and made it look so easy and seamless to the routine.

After that each of the celebrities skated one more routine and there were two performances from the professionals; Alexandra Schaumann and Lukasz Rozycki and Melanie Lambert and Fred Palascak (my favourite). Both routines were captivating to watch as they glided across the ice in perfect harmony to each other.

At the end the celebrities all came back onto the ice whilst the two finalist were announced; it was Ray and Chris, which I was really happy with as it meant I got to see Chris skate Bolero. They both did fantastic performances; however, the judges voted for Ray to win…..was not happy!!! The finale was an upbeat number with all the professionals, celebrities and Jane and Chris taking to the ice to skate one final performance. The whole show was breathtaking from start to finish and I’ll be going back again next year.

O.C. actress Mischa Barton has told fans not to worry about her apparent weight loss, as the 23-year-old’s slender frame has been the focus of media comment in recent weeks, causing concern amongst her fan base that she is taking dieting too far and needs to slow down as it may be becoming obsessive to her. 

The English-born actress has spoken out about this and said there is nothing wrong and had a pop at the press for suggesting otherwise. In her official blog, Mischa said: “So lately there’s been a lot of crazy press about my weight and just so you guys know I’m happier than ever so there is no need to worry about me.”

Mischa Barton’s weight went up last year and she was photographed in Australia looking a little bit plumper than usual and with very dimpled thighs and backside.. but now her weight has dropped and it is continuing to go down. 

Apparently Mischa is upset by the bad press she has been receiving about her weight and addressed the ‘crazy press’ in her blog, where she spoke about the reaction to her weight loss saying: ”So lately there’s been a lot of crazy press about my weight and just so you guys know I’m happier and healthier than ever so there is no need to worry about me. Things are really well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.”

“I still love my pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit.  My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on!”

“I appreciate the concern, I just wish the press wouldn’t harbor on it as I think it’s very unhealthy for young girls to read about and pay attention to.  To my female fans: Just be happy and secure with yourself and don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.”

Singer/Actress Miley Cyrus says she is bothered by people who think there is something wrong with the bond between her and her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley is know for being very close to her Dad and having a strong and secure father/daughter relationship with him, but the media have frowned upon this in recent times?!

“The media has said some stuff about my dad and me being too close and too cuddly for a father and a daughter,” the 16-year-old actress-singer writes in Miles To Go, a new memoir. “For me and my dad it’s not weird at all.”

Miley’s memoir was written alongside Hilary Liftin and it will be published next month by Disney-Hyperion Books, and in the memoir she does not mention directly last year’s photoshoot for Vanity Fair, when she is shown reclining against her father, his arm around her shoulder, both of them sombre and bare-armed – an image many found suggestive.

But she does write that she loves her father (who co-stars on her Hannah Montana TV show), is not afraid to show it, and “we don’t let other people tell us what expressions we’re supposed to have on our faces when we take a picture together!”.

She also writes how fame inevitably attracts criticism, and speaks out about how she has been hurt in the past by comments posted about her on the internet and concludes that some people are “so full of anger, hatred and bitterness”.

The media have also been mentioned and how she regrets that the media will continue to make profits off herself and other celebrities troubles, she says she wishes that the media would profit from her great achievements and focus on the positive side of her life.

Celebrity Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton has been criticised for her fake breasts, ‘tango-tan’ and heavy make-up application on BBC Three’s new programme ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid?’ The series, presented by former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, is a make-under show that seeks to change the look of heavily made-up people.

Chantelle stood before the computerised Personal Overhaul Device (POD) for her assessment and, at first, was mistaken for glamour model Katie Price. The POD apologised: “Sorry, the massive fake oranges were confusing me. Did the man from Del Monte say yes?” When the Big Brother star argued that she was “golden” rather than orange, the POD quipped: “Like 24 carrots?”

Chantelle responded to the jibes saying: “When I put my makeup on and stuff, I feel like there’s a barrier and I want to see what I do look like all natural.” The POD replied: “You are a fake, plastic, slap addict.”

Chantelle Houghton was the winner of celebrity big brother when she was put into the big brother house as the only non-celebrity in the house back in 2006, after her win on the show she ended the year with her own TV show, biography, and real-life celebrity wedding under her pretty belt, but as most big brother winners, her 15-minutes-of-fame soon came to an end and until now she has been almost unheard of.

The baby son of Kym Marsh and Jamie Lomas – known for playing bad guy ‘Warren’ in Hollyoaks, has died after he was born 18 weeks premature. Kym, 32, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in Coronation Street, gave birth to Archie Jay Lomas yesterday but he died moments later.

The actress has made a statement and said: “Archie is our beautiful angel and we will miss him so much. Thank you all for your support.”

A spokesman for the ITV1 soap said: “Archie Jay Lomas was born 18 weeks prematurely on Wednesday night in hospital – he passed away a few seconds later.”

Kym Marsh is a former Hear’Say singer, who were a pop-band who had only a couple of hits and then fizzled out, had been working on the programme Coronation Street during her pregnancy and was due to take maternity leave from the soap in the summer.

She announced the end of her marriage to former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder last March and confirmed her new relationship with Jamie, when they appeared together in public at a soap awards ceremony in June, which caused her to be under speculation for starting a new relationship too soon after her marriage break up, but herself and Jamie have proved the critics wrong by staying together, lets hope they get through this awful time.

Home and Away actress Isla Fisher has spoken about her new movie and said it allowed her to fulfill a comic dream in her performance.

The Australian actress stars as Becky Bloomwood in ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ and says she achieved a long-held acting ambition when she got to do dance in one scene, saying that she loves dancing but has never had the opportunity to perform a dance in the form of acting before. 

Isla explained: “In regard to the fan dance, it’s always been a comic dream of mine to attempt to seduce a man doing a dance that’s actually repulsive. So the opportunity of doing that arose during this movie and I embraced it and I really enjoyed every minute of it.”

The dance wasn’t choreographed, and Isla was embarrassed to admit, that the dance was her own moves. She particularly enjoyed working opposite Hugh Dancy on the movie because he allowed her to play even heavier on her comic side – which she performs perfectly, and comes across as a very loveable, cute yet funny character. 

She added: “I think Hugh’s a wonderful dancer and what I really loved about Hugh is that he came to the movie and took it seriously as if he was in a dramatic movie, which was so important. As a result, he played the greatest straight man and it gave me, playing Becky Bloomwood, somewhere to go and to be more outrageous. The comedy was grounded in reality because of him.”

Leonardo DiCaprio has spoken out in a recent interview and said that starring in the film ‘Revolutionary Road’ was like being in a weird, twisted family.

The 34-year-old actor worked alongside Kate Winslet in the new drama, and has spoken about the love scenes with Kate and said that they felt completely natural and comfortable, this even with the actress’ husband Sam Mendes who directed the film being present.

Leonardo was speaking at the European premiere of the movie in London’s Leicester Square, he also added: “I was entirely used to kissing Kate after making ‘Titanic’ with her 10 years ago. It was completely natural and comfortable. It felt like kind of a family – a weird, twisted family.”

Leonardo added Kate – who won a Golden Globe Award for her role in the film – is no different from when they first worked together, he explained that: ”She has not changed at all. She’s one of the most real people I’ve ever met and such a great friend. We’ve been support mechanisms for each other for a long period of time and will continue to be.”

The actor and actress are much more experienced now since they first appeared on the big screen together, which he believes helped them give such strong performances in ‘Revolutionary Road’.

Leonardo said: “Both of us, I think, have got more experience in this industry and taken more command of the specific projects and characters we play. We’re no longer young 20 year olds looking up to directors and producers as parental figures. We’re now adults who are taking command of our careers in a different way.”

Jennifer Hudson has returned to performing after having a break due to her private family issues, Jennifer returned by singing the national anthem before Super Bowl 2009. Jennifer Hudson, 27, was clearly nervous as she climbed onto stage to perform the song, but she gave a great performance and did a beautiful job.

The Super Bowl has a massive television audience and it was perfect for Jennifer’s first public appearance since the October slayings in Chicago of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Jennifer’s estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings. 

When the performance was over Jennifer looked very relieved, and when she returned to her dressing room, she anxiously asked pre-game show producer Rickey Minor “How did I do?”.

This was such an important performance, because it’s the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she’s in such a great place, with such great spirits and time can heal her wounds. She’s on fire right now and totally grounded.

The last news was that these two were working things out and trying to be nice for their boys?  Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline were together recently for a family barbecue and things seemed friendly, but Kevin’s new romance with Victoria Prince is causing Britney quite a bit of grief and she let Kevin know – and not in a quiet manner!

Kevin arrived at the Spear’s home to pick up his sons – Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2 – and ended up staying for a family barbecue until after 5 p.m. and he and Britney were getting along famously but things went downhill the next day.

Britney’s not happy about Kevin’s relationship with volleyball star Victoria and the fact that she’s spending time with the boys, and the ex-couple reportedly had a not-so-pleasant phone conversation, that turned into a total hysterical screaming match. Britney apparently called Kev’s new lady love a “See-you-next-Tuesday.” And during the conversation Britney told Kevin that she doesn’t want his new lady anywhere near their children. 

Kevin, who has full custody of their boys, said, “You really don’t have much to say about that.”

Britney, who has been known in the past to not deal with things very well, decided to calm down with yoga. Unlike in other emotional episodes in the past, Britney didn’t go take a pill or a drink, but went downstairs and did some yoga to calm down. I think that’s a good sign she’s growing up and dealing with Kevin. 

So, Kevin has a new girlfriend, and she shouldn’t try to play a ‘mum’ role at this point in their new relationship, but Britney has to face facts – her boys may have a step-mum at some point and it is in their best interest if their step-mum cares about them. Britney will probably marry again and the boys will have a step-dad and Kevin will have to be mature about that.
